Friendship Ministry

The Friendship Ministry has been in existence since 1982. Our goal is to provide friendship to congregation members 80 years young or older. These members may still live in their own home or reside in assisted living or convalescent homes. Many of our 80’s plus friends are still very active and enjoy an in-person visit or even a telephone chat. There are currently 64 congregation members between the ages of 80 and 103.
There are several ways the Friendship Ministry recognizes the congregation’s octogenarians, the first of which is sending a coordinator with a birthday card and a small gift in celebration of their 80th birthday. Additionally, when a member turns, 80, 90, or 100, a letter is mailed to the Greetings Department at the White House with a request for a birthday card signed by the President of the United States. and every year, we send birthday cards to all octogenarians wishing them a happy birthday.

The friendship ministry hosts two events each year.

In the Summer they host a brunch.

In December, they host an Advent Dinner which our eighty-year-old plus members and their families can attend.

At times the Friendship ministry has incorporated hosting a speaker to present relevant topics to the Octogenarian group.

Our purpose is to

Connect with God, Each Other and the World
